It is in stories such as this, I find hope for a better society in India. On the contrary, the educated, consuming, middle-class’s shameless ignorance towards such issues is a sign of worry. Financial advancement should have triggered betterment and modernization of social norms. But what I see is re-enforcement of existing sick norms of dowry, patriarchy in actions of educated, financially better-off masses.
